Biography

Minna Långström is a filmmaker and moving image artist from Helsinki, Finland. Her films, often dealing with questions of perception, representation and various mediated narratives, have been screened at several international film festivals such as Bergen IFF, Helsinki International Film Festival and Jihlava IDFF. One of her most recent films is the award winning one hour docummentary The Other Side of Mars (napafilms 2019). Her feature screenplay was selected for the 28th eQuinoxe International Screenwriters’ Workshop in Germany, fall 2023. Her moving image installation work have been exhibited internationally at museums such as Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Arts, Frankfurter Kunstverein and Charlottenborg Kunsthal in Copenhagen and is part of the Finnish National Gallery collection. In both her films and installations the intuitive, active experience of the viewer is a central aspect.
In addition to her artistic work, she founded a company that produced short and mid length films between 2002-2008 and held the position of assistant professor in moving image at the University of Arts in Helsinki 2008-2012.
